This historical piece of a C-130 was built at the request of the US Air Force and originally named the C-130 Hercules. Born on August 23, 1954, its inaugural flight went from Burbank, California to Edwards Air Force Base. Known as a cargo carrier, the C-130 was converted into over 40 different versions including the AC-130 which has been used as a gunship in every US combat operation since Viet Nam (excepting the raid on Lybia). The MC-130 is used to deploy the world’s largest bombs, the “Daisy Cutter” and the MOAB. Versatile until the end, the fleet was removed from service in 2004 when stress related failures began. Fat Albert is still in service, however, operating under the US Navy as the support aircraft for the Blue Angels. Fat Albert still flexes his muscle and joins the Blue Angels in air shows around the world.

High Flying Production and Features:

  • The flap is cut, ground, buffed and polished for over 120 man hours to create the beautiful high gloss finish
  • The C-130 flap rests on 4” black anodized aluminum architectural I beams, which are stamped with “lightness holes” which also create structural integrity, and is topped with a ½” sheet of Plexiglass to allow a view of the rugged detail of the surface of the piece.
